    WC TV Commentary

Do people in Pakistan, England and India listen to the same commentary as we do here in North America? We have a variety of commentators depending on which teams are playing. Richie Benaud, Ian Healy, Mark Taylor, Ravi Shastri, Ranjit Fernando, Imraan Munshi, Tony Cozier, Michael Holding, Pat Symcox, Jimmy Adams, Mike Haysman, Robin Jackman, Ian Botham, Bob Willis, David Gower, Mark Butcher, Ramiz Raja and Amir Sohail.

Speaking of Amir Sohail, I just CAN NOT stand the guy. I despise the comments he makes. He has nothing to add to the picture. What do you folks think?.

Totally Agree. Another person is Jimmy Adams. He is very very annoying. Repeats every word like 10 times so his sentences finish in about 5 minutes. Ranjit Fernando is not upto standard either. The rest of them are ok.

Yeah we are getting the same commentary team. I don't mind Sohail, he talks crap a lot of the time but he's quite entertaining with his outrageous remarks and ill-informed opinions. He commentates just like he used to bat

I cannot stand Ranjit Fernando, this man is so biased that at every oppurtunity he starts praising Sri lankan team.
Basically the commentry teams are same on all channels coz each channel have contracs with the same pool. I watch WC with three different coverages but the commentators are almost same. Every 8 overs they switch channels.

Why isnt Sunil Gavaskar there, he is one of my favourites. One of the named missed above is Sanjay Manjrekar who is also commentating on some matches. I cant stand his commentary.

I agree with you all... Sohail,Sanjay and Jimy Adams are very annoying.....But most annoying is Ranjit Fernando..He doesnt have an Idea about what he is talking and he is so biased.Botham is another biased ass.

              But I admire..Richie Benaud,Shahstri,Jackman,Tony and Holding.

There is also Pomie Mbangwa, Dean Jones, David Lloyd, Barry Richards and Ian Bishop. I know there is a a few more I can't remember.

All the channels get their rights from Worldtel, so it's all intercorelated.

Extreme, you got it bang on the money! Sohail's words come out just the way his body language was on the field. Rash, sometimes topsy-turvy but entertaining. His english vocabulary is pretty good for a sub-continent player-turned-commentator though.

                      My picks would be-

The good: Tony Grieg, Ian Chappel, Benaud, Gavaskar, Blofeld, Boycott, Tony Cozier, Ramiz.

The bad: Ranjit Fernando, Sohail, Taylor, Shastri, Butcher, Robin Jackman, Healy, Gower, Holding, Richards.

The ugly: Bishop, Symcox, Jimmy Adams, Manjrekar, Botham.

                      and of course,

                      The clown: Sidhu.

                        The Game Responds:

Hey, I enjoy the way Aamir Sohail argues with the other commentators, so all you "haters" better shut it. And yes, the absence of Ian Chappell and Geoffery Boycott could be felt easily. Dean Jones is a nice addition, and Ian Healy is the biggest Australian wanker ever. People, That Is All.

In contrast to some of the views here, I find Mark Taylor to be very absorbing. He has a good knowledge of the latest cricketers as he has retired recently. And I don't think he is biased.

Ian Healy used to be an idiot when he was new but now I like him too.

No 1, Amir Sohail was the best opener pakistan has had in the last decade, so all you trying to say he wasn't a good cricketer, its about time you wake up. Ever since Sohail was left out of the squad, Saeed Anwar has not had one consistent opener.

As for comentating, he speaks out and says what he thinks. He did the same thing on the pitch. Because he didn't take money along with Basit Ali and Rashid, he was left out the team? Thats not fair......

His commentating is a little annoying, but for a player turned commentator, his english is good. As for Ramiz, he is the best commentator since Ifthikar Ahmed, as Asif Iqbal was not very interesting at all.

Aamir sohail is really a bad commentator.....the only thing he does is praise the paki team even when andrew symonds is making mince-meat out of them......not a single good word for the opposition.

i like Tony Creig the most. Geoff Boycott is one of my favourites too

for radio commentary, it's JONATHAN AGNEW all the way
                              Why so serious ... ?
