    Cricketer of the Year Awards

Kallis and Australia scoop top Awards
Jacques Kallis has become the first Cricket World Player of the Year and Australia is the first Cricket World Team of the Year. The first Cricket World awards have been decided over the course of the 2002 International cricket calendar and are a reflection of the performances of teams and individuals during 2002 in the International arena.

Cricket World’s team awards are based on a league system in which sides gain two points for a win, one point for a draw, tie or no result and no points for a loss. Each sides points total is then divided by the number of matches they have played to give a Cricket World rating. Australia were undisputedly the best Test side of 2002 as a CW rating of 1.82 indicates, second in the Test table were South Africa on 1.33 and third was New Zealand on 1.25. Australia also picked up the ODI award with a score of 1.38 ahead of Pakistan, South Africa and India. Inevitably Australia pick up the Cricket World team of the Year award having the highest ratings in both Test and ODI cricket in 2002.

Cricket World’s individual awards have been calculated on a Most Valuable Player (MVP) basis. In each International match of 2002 an MVP was selected for each side and for the match. South African all rounder Jacques Kallis won the Test award while West Indian opener Chris Gayle is the first recipient of the Cricket World ODI Player of the Year Award. The overall award went to Jacques Kallis who weighed in with the highest combined rating for Tests and ODI’s. Awards have also been allocated for each individual country in categories of Best Overall, Test and ODI player of 2002, see list below.

Full lists, statistics and breakdowns of the 2002 Cricket World Awards will be published in the February 2003 edition of Cricket World Magazine. In the meantime here is a list of the Award winners.

I don't get one thing, how is Razzaq awarded best Pakistani test player, his record was horrible this year in test.
And how was Tendulkar the best Indian player of the year, shouldn't it be someone like Dravid, Sehwag, Zaheer Khan.

i think taufeeq umar deserved the best test player award....

if not, definitely abdu razzaq did not deserve it.....
Both Halal & Haram r evident but between them r doubtful things, most ppl have no knowledge about them. So whoever saves himself from suspicious things saves his religion & honor, & whoever indulges in suspicious things indulges in Haram.

They should have given a new award:

The cricketer who broke down most during the year (The cry baby award):

        Shoaib Akhter

Please elaborate on your statement, he is the only bowler to destroy the Aussie batting on a foreign pitch.

Ehsan Bhai..(disregarding your sarcastic comment)...mark my words.. the only player who can win CWC for Pakistan is Shoaib.. forget about what he do off the field....Shoaib is a match winner..he can ripoff any batting side including mighty Aussie in just 4-5 overs.. he don't need 10 overs to prove his worth...
Why don't you guys just leave him alone...

Blade bhai I wasn't referring to his off field antics. Look at his record of breaking down in every series and then discuss the point.

Yaar Ehsan do you have any idea how tough it is to bowl @ 95+mph??..he is a human being...Shoaib bowling should be included in extreme sports..just like free diving he's among the very rare breed of human being who are capable of enduring such extreme labor...he is an asset....we all Pak are so good in criticizing..i remember in IndoPak World cup ppl were protesting against WasimAkram ear ring!!
Correct me if i m wrong you & Mr Xtreme were commenting about my Pak mentality regarding Mohd Sami..well my dear Moderators....Sami is like piece of crap in front of Shoiab...I stick to my words...Shoaib RULZZ!

Just pray that Shoaib remain fit..and i gurantee you..there is nothing like Shoiab on this earth!

So true Jera, he is the only bowler in the world who bowls at this speed, Brett Lee is way behind him by all means, bowling at such speed is very risky for a person's fittness and Shoaib is taking that risk.

thats not just enuff for winning a world cup....

                              consistency is the keyword....
and that cannot be achieved if u play one match and sit out the next ten....
