Saeed Anwar reached a personal milestone as Pakistan scored 178 for two wickets after 35 overs against Sri Lanka in the Sharjah triangular series on Friday.
The left-handed Pakistan batsman, playing his 47th match in Sharjah and 221st overall, became the first player to score 2,000 runs at the desert venue when he reached 48.
He was batting on 83 in partnership with Inzamam-ul-Haq who was unbeaten on 71.
Pakistan had stuttered early in the innings losing both openers Imran Nazir and Shahid Afridi by the fourth over.
Nazir was caught by Russel Arnold at short mid-wicket off Nuwan Zoysa for two, while Afridi was run out next ball after a mix-up with Anwar for 13 off eight balls.
With Pakistan reeling at 18 for two, Anwar and Inzamam-ul Haq steadied the innings with sensible batting.
Anwar, who has scored 90 and 81 in the previous two innings in the three-nation competition which includes New Zealand, remained on top form scoring 50 off 45 balls with seven fours.
