    SACRILEGE

    http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport/hi/engli...00/1252876.stm

Hmmmm... If tests only lasted 4 days Oz would have won the series against India 1-0. Something's rotten in the state of Denmark.

I'm not for it, but they might want to consider six days in Pakistan, since the pitches are more conducive to batting and it's difficult to fit more than 80 overs in a day because of fading light. Perhaps they could have 3 sessions of 25 overs for a total of 75 in a day. You would still get the exact same number of scheduled overs in the course of the match and this approach would be sensitive to the fact that the heat in Pakistan is more difficult for players and fans. It' also more realistic as well because it is almost impossible to fit in the traditional 90 over day.

When tests become floodlit (they will) 75 overs could easily be fit in primetime from 6pm to 12am. Tests would start on Thursday. If a test ended up finishing early, the climax would fall over the weekend when most people would be able to go to the park. If it was well paced the fans would have no qualms about watching the action on the first two days of the week.
