Afridi gets clearance from bowling committee

Pakistan all-rounder Shahid Afridi has been cleared of having a suspect bowling action by the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB).

A PCB spokesman said on Saturday that a committee comprising Abdul Qadir, Mohsin Kamal and Ijaz Fakih had found nothing wrong with Afridi's bowling action.

``The committee reviewed the bowling footages and saw the bowler in nets before giving him the clearance,'' the spokesman said from Lahore.

Afridi's quicker balls were questioned by match referee Barry Jarman during a recent one-day home series against England.

``Afridi was not suspended before nor is there any question mark on him now,'' the spokesman said.

Afridi is the third Pakistan bowler whose action has been questioned by match referees following pacemen Shoaib Akhtar and Shabbir Ahmad.

So ends another witch hunt against Pakistani bowlers in particular and Asian bowlers in general. Isn't it amazing when Gavskar points out Lee's action the issue is swept under the carpet while these so called umpires and refrees from Australia, NZ and England are over zealous to report sub continent players.

well afridi was nt anything when he came into cricket, but i guess he is getting better as his performance in the domestic scene was better thatn others, scoring runs and gettting couple of wickets

well our players, we cant say anything, they mite be better in the domestic scene, but it doesnt seems to be the same person perfoming internationallly
