Ferrari's Stellar 1-2 Performance at Indy

Just what the race-pandits ordered for Ferrari; both Shue and Barichello finishing 1-2 repspectively at the first US Grand Prix in nine years at the Indianapolis Motor-Speedway. The finish enabled them to secure the lead in both Driver's and Championship points standings when going into the second last race of the season in Japan. Shumacher leads Mika Hakkinen by 8 points in the Driver's standings, and Ferrari leads McLaren-Mercedes by 10 points in the Constructor's Championship.

Overall, it wasn't a really entertaining race. Yet, rejoicing to see Ferrari's 1-2 finish in front of the record crowd ever to be assembled in any F1 race. Shumacher was well ahead of the rest of the pack with 17 seconds margin on the finish line. Barichello, as always persistant despite dropping to a nineth postion earlier in the race managed to fight back. Coulthard was penalized earlier in the race for leap frogging the starting-line before the lights actually turned yellow. And, couldn't have been any worst for Hakkinen who had to retire when his engine caught fire.

Now, if Michael Shumacher can win the next race at Suzuka, that would bring the Driver's Championship title back to Ferrari after 21 years....GO Ferrari!!
