Pakistanis Cite India In Cheat Row

Tensions between India and Pakistan have spilled over to the cricket field after Pakistan accused their rivals of ball tampering and abusing players.
The Pakistanis reported the Indians to match referee Cammie Smith soon after the Carlton & United tri-series match in Adelaide, which India won by 48 runs.

Smith, a former West Indian Test player, confirmed that he met with officials from both teams after the match, but declined to reveal what transpired at the meeting. Indian coach Kapil Dev, however, said that the Pakistanis complained against abusive language used by his players during the match.

He also revealed the Pakistanis accused Indian captain Sachin Tendulkar of tampering with the ball in the 39th over.

"I am shocked," an angry Kapil said. "We have never tampered with the ball and to accuse a guy like Tendulkar of doing it is absolutely ridiculous.

"It just goes to show to what extent teams go to find excuses for their defeat."

Kapil said he had instructed his team to inform the umpires immediately if any abusive language was heard on the field.

"If that's the way people want to play the game, so be it," he said.

"If we are accused of using foul language, we will make sure that if others do it, we will halt the game and bring it to the notice of the umpires.

"Are we the only guilty party?" Kapil asked. "It's nice to know no other team sledges on the field." Pakistani captain Wasim Akram declined to comment.

Well, Well, Well !!!!!!!! What is the Indian god upto, tampering with the ball now. Desperate situation lends itself to desperate acts.

      Ehsan and Shafiq:

Do you remember the Pakistan's '92 tour of england following the world cup win? Do you remember how Pakistan was accused of ball tampering back then? Now tell me one thing: Did you believe it then? If you did, you're then very gullible. If you didn't, then why are you so quick to believe it now that its Indians who are being accused?

Ghalib are you saying that the Pakistan team management lied? Whenever anyone says anything against the Indian team you are quick to point out the opposite. What's the point. The issue here was what the allegation is against the Indian team, instead of discussing whether they might be guilty or not you are trying to raise other issues as usual.

Why should I discuss whether they might be guilty or not when I have nothing to go by except your thread?

As for giving opposite views to you postings, I simply believe in knowing all the facts before making a judgement about something as serious as ball-tampering. You're quick to accept anything thats for pakistan and even quicker to accept anything thats against its opponents, especially India.

So, the answer to you question is that, No!!, I don't believe what pakistani cricket team claims because of their lack of credibility in the past. Tell me one thing: do believe them when they say that match fixing doesn't exist?

BTW, you didn;t answer my question about ball tampering issue of '92 in England!

The ball tampering issue of 92 was never proved. So if you believed in it that's your problem. This thread is not a figment of my imagination, the news was on yahoo sports. It is people like you who believe that Pakistan cannot lose a match unless it is fixed, whether it is a test match or the world cup final. While you say you cannot make a judgement before knowing all the facts you are more than happy to accuse the Pakistan team of match fixing. Have you got any proof of this allegation. Well if you don't believe the allegations by Pakistani team that the Indians were ball tampering and sledging you must be a bigger fan of the Indian team than Kapil Dev because he has all but conceded the sledging allegation. And before you start defending Kapil Dev and require proof before you make up your mind read his statement "If we are accused of using foul language, we will make sure that if others do it, we will halt the game and bring it to the notice of the umpires."
Hmmmmm he doesn't deny sledging does he, but then what does he know he is only the manager of the Indian team, he should have discussed it with you first.

Look at it this way....The perfect example.
Prasad gets hammered every time he bowls..except when he plays against Pakistan.
Why? Is it because the Pakistanis cannot play him. Hardly. If we can play world class bowlers like Walsh,Ambrose,Mcgrath,Donald and Pollock then we can surely handle a mediocre bowler like Prasad. So quite simply, the reason for his success against Pak is cos of ball tampering. I definately believe the Indians tamper with the ball..particularly when playing against Pakistan cos quite frankly, it's the only way they can win.

As for the sledging part....thats a lame escuse by the Pakistanis. I've seen Pakistan's matches against India..and Afridi,Sohail,Moin and Youhana are no angels either. The Indians sledge..so do we. Big deal. If you want to whine about sleding...go play Domestic cricket at home. You should'nt be playing International cricket.

And everyone should simply ignore Kapil dev. The man never speaks sense.Remember during Kargil he said Indian should not play against Pakistan? Well, right now the lame loser is coaching the side thats getting thrashed by the Pakistanis! He's a joke.

Tum to naraz ho gaye...achaa challo ghussa thooko or mil bhaith kar battey karrey...

First thing first: You gotta ease up on coming to conclusions based on what others write. Here's what you've conluded from reading my posts:

1)"It is people like you who believe that Pakistan cannot lose a match unless it is fixed..."

2)"..you are more than happy to accuse the Pakistan team of match fixing;"

3)"..And before you start defending Kapil Dev.."

Now, go back and re-read my posts. Tell me where did I say such things? HUH?? Tell me!!

The problem here is that rooting for your home team is o.k., but shunning out negative or deragatory info because you're the fan is nothing less than stupidity. Whether or not ball tampering occured, its still in the speculative phase, so I would be more than careful as to make my conlusions.

Now, here's what you wrote about '92 Tour:

"The ball tampering issue of 92 was never proved"

Ehsan mian, when you're not willing to accept those allegations laid out against pakistan because they were speculative, why did you say "What is the Indian god upto, tampering with the ball now. Desperate situation lends itself to desperate acts..." when it is still a mere accusation. Are you saying that when pakistanis bring up an accusation, whether proven or not, its true and when brits did in '92, they lied because nothing was proven? Are you saying that when pakistan accuses someone, its true but someone else accuses pakistan, its baseless?

As for being in the news, weren't the '92 accusations reported on BBC and other respectable medias where as this has been reported on Yahoo so far?!

My whole point: Stop being partial towards pakistan! There's a difference between rooting for a team and following them blindly.

BTW, you still haven't explained your reaction to ball tampering issue of '92 in England!

                Mania:

Didn;t Anil Kumble take 4 wickets this last time?

I was a bit disappointed at first on hearing this news but when you think about it, it doesn't make sense to keep quiet when other teams are indulging in accusations against Pakistan. We might as well have a go back.

Ball tampering has gone on for ages now and before Pakistan did it there were plenty of English bowlers who were doing it. Just England couldn't handle being beaten so they started squawking. A former colleague of Ian Botham implicated the great allrounder as someone who regularly tampered with the ball but he was one of those who were screaming loudest about Pakistan.

I am more bothered about the sledging issue. I always think it sounds like whinging when other teams complain so I don't like to hear us moaning. Especially since we do it ourselves.

I think it's a case of the Pakistan camp thinking we never complain about these things while others are always very vocal so why not make ourselves heard?

The ball tampering issue of 92, when it first broke out I thought that it might be correct or might have some truth to it as it was being made with such ferocity by the British press. However as time passed and the allegations were never proven I changed my view that it was nothing more than sour grapes on part of the English who were looking for excuses after their defeat at the hands of Pakistan. Remeber Boycott said at the time that Pakistan could have beaten England by bowling with oranges, they don't need ball tampering. Now can you give me your proof for Pakistan teams match fixing and cheating.

Its probably the first time that pak has alleged someone of ball tampering .. we understand that its pak whos on the receiving end most of the time .. and if they say it against india now .. i think they make perfect sense out there .. for the rest i agree with Xtreme ...

I'm happy for one thing though .. the number of ppl defending india has gone down .. and this really comes as a pleasant news to me ...

                        Ehsan Mian:

I would love to give you a proof for Pakistan teams match fixing and cheating, but I don't have any. Thats why I have never accepted nor rejected these charges. Knowing the beauracracy and politics involved in the cricket, I wouldn;t be surprised if these allegations are true. But doesn't it surprise you that Aamir Sohail, among others who brought these charges, is not allowed to play intrnational cricket anymore? Especially at a time when Paki can use a well rounded opener! Just wondering.

                        Maharaja and Xtreme:

Its true that pakistan is usually on the recieving end. Our players are constantly mentally abused when they're on tour. The shohaib akhtar scenario really hit the nerve. I guess these are all tactics to instill doubts in the capabilities of the paki team and thus dampening their confidence.

So the best deffense would be offense? I am not so sure!! If you bring up the charges, then you better be supported through your media and noted figured in the game. Otherwise the tactic backfires. Just like it did with the ball tampering since it was rejected by the match refree. Hence, here goes another sad saga of Pakistan's credibility in the international community.

                          Salaamz;
Well..topic is getting hot. I think Mr. ghalib needs to say some poetry instead of arguing something which hasn't any strong back. Pakis never abused any one as far I acknowledge. If they said something which is true then how can I go wrong. Here as Mr. ghalib said "I would love to give you a proof for Pakistan teams match fixing and cheating, but I don't have any." Then bro why u r arguing then?? Back in 92, England accused Pakis about ball tampering, but they never proved it, even their Mike Getting was cought doing ball tampering. Ausies accused Pakis about bribery but they failed to proove, even their Mark waugh and Shane Warne were cought doing this. Have U ever heard about Pakis accusing any one. If they saying some thing about Indians then I think it should be happened long time before.
So bro I give u friendly advise that better U do ur "Shaaieree"

                          C ya

All this writing and 'suggestions' and basically you're reiterating what Ehsan has been saying all along. And just like Ehsan, I will ask you the same question: where do I level charges against pakistan's ball tampering? Lets see it..

So, what you say is: "Pakis never abused any one as far I acknowledge. If they said something which is true then how can I go wrong"

Now my dear, prove to me how it is TRUE? And please don't tell me that its true because some pakistani uttered it!

I heard Azhar Mahmood calling Anil Kumble "Bhan Chood" and all of you must have heard this on TV if you watched the 3rd indo-pak match unless you are def .
Secondly I do n't know if the match fixing acusation is correct or not but I do believe that there is a little fire there . But I am sure that that drug issue was correct as I have seen
Moin khan , Inzamam , Afridi , Azhar Mahmood
in a night club here the night club's name is "Mercury" where they were drinking and smoking maravana (it's a soft drug)last sunday night , It's not in the news paper it's not what some one else told me , I saw this with my own eyes ( well! what I was doing there is beside the point ) and Ijaz was playing Banker(it's a card game) in the casino down stairs .Photographs are not allowed there but we are expecting them here around the finals and I am gonna get some shots even if I loose my camera and get away with film I think I would be able to sell the photo shorts for reasonable money and all of us would see our heros
now what do you say about this .
