    Canada to host ICC Trophy

CALCUTTA, India (AP) -- Canada will host the International Cricket Council trophy in the year 2001, Jagmohan Dalmiya, the ICC president, said Thursday.

Twenty-five teams from non-test playing nations will participate in the tournament. Three of them, Kenya, Scotland and Bangladesh, had participated in the just concluded cricket World Cup after qualifying at the last ICC trophy contest held in Malaysia two years ago.

The ICC will meet in September to decide the venue of the second Mini World Cup. The United States, Kenya and the United Arab Emirates have offered to host the tournament.

The last Mini World Cup played in Bangladesh in 1998 was won by South Africa. Other participants were England, Australia, the West Indies, Sri Lanka, India, Pakistan, New Zealand and Zimbabwe.
