how do u know? it is not clear who will be no 1 and 2 and 3 and 4. so maybe 16 or 17.

Team 1 vs. 4 on 16th. SA can be team 1 if it beats Aus, and it will play Aus. is semis. If Aus. beats SA, run rate will decide no 1,2,3 in teams with 6 points and no 1 will have advantage of playing Zim. so SA can plan losing to Aus. if they feel more comfortable taking on Pak or Zim.

Depends... Firstly, if NZ wins this game (5 points), the defeat of Aus. against SA will mean that Aus (4 points) are out.

Even if Aus. wins, NZ win will mean they tie with Zim and then run-rate will decide.

So though India is out of contest, NZ has a reason to play.

Cricket-World Cup-No easy ride for Australians

LEEDS, England, June 12 - South African captain Hansie Cronje needed just five words to dash any hopes Australia might have of an easy ride in their final World
                Cup Super Six match.

"It might bite you back," said Cronje when asked if his team might ease off the throttle at Headingley on Sunday now that they have secured a semifinal place.

"I can't remember this team taking their foot off the accelerator too many times."

South Africa have won six of their seven games played so far and will be striving to finish top of the Super Six table.

The second round winners take on the fourth-placed team in the first semifinal at Old Trafford next Wednesday and events elsewhere could mean yet another South
                Africa-Australia showdown.

Hey guys, sorry to interrupt in but i am confused, i was just readin the cricket.org commentry on Pak's win and the report says that the first hat trick in wc was Chetan Sharma for India against Srilanka in 1987/88. While Talib here says it was against Newzealand and the bbc report agrees with him. I don't know if u care about this or not...but for (after match report reading cricket enthusiasts who are too cheap to buy the cricket match on pay per view) people like me....lol...well doesn't that point out some of the flaws on the official cricket site we people heavily depend on? Neway if u think i am wrong then check it out for urselves.

                      Saqlain Is Pakistan Hat-Trick Hero

Pakistan were dramatically rushed into the World Cup semi-finals by a hat-trick from Saqlain Mushtaq at The Oval.

The off-spinner dismissed Henry Olonga, Adam Huckle and Mpumelelo Mbangwa with the last three balls of the match as Pakistan trounced Zimbabwe by 148-runs.

Olonga and Huckle were stumped by Moin Khan, and Mbwanga was lbw to spark amazing, noisy scenes of celebration by the Pakistan supporters.

It was the second hat-trick in World Cup history, the other being taken by India's Chetan Sharma against New Zealand in Nagpur, India in 1987.

It was also Saqlain's second one-day international hat-trick - and on his home Surrey ground. His previous triple strike was also against Zimbabwe.

Saeed Anwar's 16th one-day century set up a big Pakistan total of 271 for eight from their 50 overs, which Zimbabwe never looked likely to match.

They were fired out for 123 in the 41st over, although Neil Johnson once more played defiantly for 54.
Zimbabwe can still go through to the semi-finals If India beat New Zealand on Saturday.
If New Zealand win, it will come down to run-rate. Whatever happens, India are out of the competition.

Dil...dilseeee who do u think would be a better 'match' for Pak in the semies.

If India wins how does it affect the standings....run rates?

                        ciao,

                          India win does not matter.

india loss also does not matter since run rate/points wise Pak is better than NZ or Zim.

C'mon New Zealand.. because we all know Australia will lose to South Africa. NZ has to win this match!!! So they can play South Africa, and we can play Zimbabwe. Because of Net Run Rate.

                            44444444444444444444 from Horne
30.1 Kumble to Horne, FOUR, another cover drive, Horne has his highest score in ODIs now
30.2 Kumble to Horne, one run
30.3 Kumble to Twose, wide: FOUR, down the leg side, damages Kumble's figs to the tune of 5ive

                            well good fouring there..

India is already out even if they win, make no difference,as you know that sa/pak are already in semifinal
The next 2 team will be from zim/new zeland and australia
