Trans Tasman Clash AUS vs. NZ Test Series 1st Series 20th Nov. 2008

So Folks since i'm awake and zapped through to see the Toss between Ponting and Vettori I thought why not open a thread for the series

So it's the Trans Tasman Clash

    AUS vs. NZ 1st. Test
    20th Nov. - 24th. Nov
    At the Gabba in Brisbane

    00:00 GMT
    01:00am Central European Time
    03:00am UAE Time
    05:00am Pakistan Time
    10:00am Australia Time

06:00pm New York Time (previous day)

Weather: 86°F / 31°C Sun with partly cloudy

NZ won the Toss and decided to field as the strip has a green cover and with a lot of rain in the last few days it might turn out to be another uphill climb for Aussies.

However for NZ no Jacob Oram who could've been a handful on this Pitch and even Kyle Mills is not available for NZ.

Let's c how it turns out.

    Go NZ Go

    7 runs on a ball

45.3 O'Brien to Symonds, 7 runs, Now Symonds clubs another short ball from outside off, the ball just falls short of the rope at deep midwicket and they run four, worse for N there are four overthrows as well as the ball beats the keeper
It’s better to keep your mouth shut and give the impression that you’re stupid than to open it and remove all doubt

        That were 8 runs sir

Nevertheless it was very good performance for NZ

But it'll be interessting to see how NZ Batters fare at this wicket as it's said to be much faster on day 2 so if NZ can get soemwhere close 300 or even beyond this match will head for an exciting finish

Watching the game, this new debutant for New Zealand from sometime back - Tim Southee - was impressive. He has his outswinger/inswinger for the right-hander and a straighter ball which got his first 3 wickets and put Australia at 3/23. Not real pace by this pace attack but Tim Southee is one to watch out for, especially the ball which pitches and goes on straight.

New Zealand's Bond-glory days when he used to run fast and full to deliver at over 150+.

              Debutant?
I think you forget his memorable debut against England earlier this year. Where in 1st innings he took 5 wickets and later in last innings hit 9 sixes in his innings.

After watching ICL flat tracks this is really refreshing to see that Batsmen r all at sea against good medium pace bowling

Jesse Ryder has already produced two edges

Well i think as long as Ryder is in there it's not going to be boring

Thrashes lee through Point for a 4 and the very next ball he flashes and Haddin + Hayden miss the chance. Last bal of that over Lee puts it into his "BOX" and Ryder is down

Now that's real Cricket for me

Quite. Especially a 'maiden' over, which has become a rarity off late (unless Pakistan's top order is at the crease). A bowler working the batsman is a good sight in cricket, over after over. Batsman shouldering the ball to the keeper.

No more Twenty 20's...not only it's about flat tracks, but shorter boundaries (60m-65m at deep mid-wicket)

Lee vs. Ryder is a very interesting clash within this Match as Ryder has hit Lee already for 4 4's in his short stay

                          Salam Dhobi Ji

                          how u doin ?

yep spot on ..... these short boundaries add to batsmen being careless about there shot selection and with the Bat quality these days not rarely u see mis hits sail over the rope for a 6

I'm for 80m boundaries and green tops for Test matches as a standard (but then who am I anyway !!! )

Jesse Ryder is one of the dominant New Zealand's batsmen, has the ability to go to the top very quickly.

Lee against anyone is a good content.

It's sad to mention coz this Ryder guy reminds of Asim Kamal

Boy this guy had temperament especially for the Test Arena

                              What a pity
