    India's progress under Chappel !!!???

this thread is meant to discuss the technical part of Chappels coaching and not as a Bashing base

I would like to discuss this coz after the ZIM and SL Test-series this was the real test for India ......
For those who followed the SL series can assured u that the victories were more by a below-par SL than a superior India

We've seen his experimenting with the opening (Pathan in tests) ...... but to be honest i'm still missing some sort of a plan/strategy form him which is visible when ever Team india enters the Arena .......

to put it in clear letters ---> I'm looking at what changes (not so the result) Woolmer brought in to Pak-Team which are visible when ever they play ...... It seems like every player has it's defined role and acts accordingly (atleast most of them) to excute whatever the team management plans

In India's 2nd innings one could saw only 2 guys who played like they had a plan ...... Gangu (maybe also in mind his own place) And Yuvi who played a brillian Innings ....... and those who know India-pakistan contests also know very well how this encounter gells each unit together ...... could it be that Chappels thinking/planning/strategy is causing more problems than doing good within the team ???? Could it be that some players r unhappy7unwiling to his way/methods of coaching ????

your comments (and please refrain from hatred filled attacks on anybody)

Zero bhai, it took Woolmer more than a year when we saw better and consistent results, so give Chappal sometime too, we were seeing similar hiccups in Bob's 1st year as well.

      Zero_one Bhai,

Looking back, I was all in awe when he started his Bold steps of side lining Ganguly, and also his experiments with the opening pair, and also at times opening the Bowling with (who was it) Harbajan or Kumble.

But now in retrospect and hind vision, looks like he didnt know much of what he was doing, Ganguly's sidelining, (though Not very Obvious) I am sure has created some rift in the dressing room, (remember harbajan's outburst), experimenting with openers has kind of backfired, Imagine having a regular opener like Ganguly, Tendulkar (Coz Sehwag had a Time restriction) why would he elect to send out Dravid and Laxman, or at times Pathan and why not Jaffer or Gambhir????

Bowling ke mamle mai the lesser said the better, I dont think that at this moment without lead bowlers it is going to matter who opens the Bowling, to me its like, Kabhi takiya idher rakha, Kabhi takiya udher rakha!!!!.

Ganguly's seclusion is more ironic because he had a major say in Chappels recruitment, and look what he got in return, believe me I am no follower or fan of Ganguly, but it just seems ethically wrong.

The icing on the cake for me was his middle finger gesture to the Crowds at calcutta, looks like the Indian Team Management has Screwed up big time this time around.

There are supporters of each party, looks like Ganguly camp is warming up to take on Chappel in the light of possible defeat in both test and ODI series in Pak.

Chappel has a hell to go through unless they beat England conviencingly as Pakistan did few weeks back. It might heal up some wounds of a cricket carzy nation.

          -----------------cvabn---------------------

Two different people going through two different environments.
Woolmer had only Javed Miandad, Rashid Latif and similar sort of so called "Coaching talents" of local breed to deal with.

On the contrary Mian Greg Chappel had little idea of the hostile environment he was getting into and drew 1st blood by hurling obscenities towards the hostile cricket-crazy fans.
What other assurities he had in his zanbeel to offer aside lackluster wins against SL and SA. Indian fans don't care much about winning against SL or SA, Itís the Ind-Pak matches they use as probe.

As I mentioned in my similar thread. I have yet to see a daunting change Chappal has to offer the Indians what John Wright could not offer.

Chappal's sentiments to ICC about Shaoib Akhter's bowling action are another crude example of his 'priorities' and trivial approach in dealing with well reputed board and matters that don't serve any benefit to his own Indian team.
Already newspapers are carrying eyewitness accounts of rifts between the Tour Manager Gurdapur and Coach Chappal.

Exactly my thoughts Aejaz bhai ....... i mean even the hardcore supporter for Team India have started to question things one would think r basic for Cricket at this level ...... i think he (maybe te rest of teh teammanagement also) missed a trick or two when he decided to rest the sepcialist opener ...... i meant atleast on the dodo tracks of Lahore and Faisalabad u could send in atleast one specialist opener instead of Dravid ...... Coz this would've given this very opener some batting practice ahead of the last Test ......

But i feel somehow that Chappel is under pressure and from the copmosition (batting line-up) u could feel he trying hard to satisfy almost every one ...... the only thing is that this very thinking doesn't help the Teams cause ......

maybe he thought showing some spine (even though it backfired) while dropping Gangu would carry a message for the rest in the team that only the caoch is in power and no one else

At the moment he is caught in two minds ...... his own plan (if there is any) is bound to bring upon the wrath of the media especially after the historic defeat in Karachi ...... and what is suggested in every part of the media is to colourful for him to test it out .......

I had the impression sofar that only Dravid and Sehwag somehow support him also in the public

When u try to fit so many people's wishes u end up in a situation like he is in now
