    Do you think 'dikhna' is a standard word?

    I see this word used all the time, especially due to influence from Bharat. But while it has been used by common folks, I have never seen it in any literary work. Proper Urdu uses 'Nazar aana' instead of 'dikhna'.
    What do you think?

    PS: I kind of like the word 'dikhna' because its equivalent 'Nazar aana' is a compound verb. Dikhna is a single word expressing the same concept.

    Mujhe dikhai diya
    Marine dekha
    Mujhe woh dekhne ko jee chahta hai

    These are the usages I am familiar with.

      I agree with khoji. Sun, chal, beth, uth are nouns so Sun'na, chalna, uthna, bethna can become their verbs. Because dikh is not a word, so dikhna cannot be a word
      People are afraid of what they don't understand

        Dikhna is short form of dekhai dena....

          I assumed dikh as to dekh - was the same as 'glance' is as to 'look' ... And I only heard it uttered in Bollywood films ...

          So dekhna is looking and dikhna is glancing - perhaps?

            Psyah,
            dekhna = to look,
            'dikhna' = nazar aana = to appear, to be shown.

            It is similar to the difference between Murshid and Murshad, or Muntazir and Muntazar.

                  It is dikhai not dekhai.

                            Yes. I hardly understood a word. And by that time I was getting tired of Latha. In this song she kept on whining.

                            Lyrics may be good. But went over my head.
